Biodiesel is a clean burning alternative diesel fuel, produced from renewable resources. It is equivalent to petroleum diesel, but can be produced from a variety of vegetable oils and animal fats. EnviroOil will only supply biodiesel from vegetable oils.

Biodiesel contains no petroleum. It can be blended at any level with petroleum diesel to create a biodiesel blend. It can be used in most compression-ignition (diesel) engines without modification and stored, transported and handled using the existing fuel infrastructure.

Biodiesel is simple to use, biodegradable, nontoxic, essentially free of sulphur and aromatics and is the most thoroughly tested alternative fuel on the market. A number of independent studies have been completed with the results showing that biodiesel performs similarly to petroleum diesel while benefiting the environment and human health.

A US Department of Energy and US Department of Agriculture full lifecycle emissions study found that for every unit of fossil energy needed to make biodiesel, 3.2 units of energy are gained. In contrast it takes 1.2 units of fossil energy resources to produce 1 unit of petroleum diesel energy.

Biodiesel reduces emissions; it is non toxic, biodegradable and essentially free of sulphur and aromatics. Biodiesel offers similar fuel economy, horsepower and torque* to petroleum diesel while providing superior lubricity. On a lifecycle basis, biodiesel reduces carbon dioxide by 78% compared to petroleum diesel.
